Iowa Cubs (AAA) (56-38)

The Iowa Cubs beat the Indianapolis Indians 9-4

Iowa jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and then poured it on in the third to make it 5-0. Even when Indianapolis drew it within one in the top of the eighth the Cubs came out strong in the bottom of the eighth with four more runs of their own to come away with another victory.

Nelson Velazquez (OF) went 1-for-5 with his 16th home run of the season but he also struck out three times.

Yonathan Perlaza (OF) went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored to raise his batting average to .287.

David Bote (3B) went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a run scored.

Matt Mervis (1B) went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. It was nice to see the power peak out again even if it also came with two strikeouts.

Alexander Canario (OF) went 2-for-5 with his first double of the season, a single, and two RBI.

Jordan Wicks (LHP) went five innings and only allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out two.
