Myrtle Beach Pelicans (A) (56-43)

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans lost to the Down East Wood Ducks 7-1

This one was an old-school classic beatdown, not dissimilar from the one that the major league squad took from the Braves earlier yesterday. The Pelicans went down early and then didn’t score their run until the eighth inning but the Wood Ducks came back and dropped three more runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth to seal the win.

Pedro Ramirez (2B) went 2-for-3 with with two singles and a walk.

Jefferson Rojas (SS) has been pretty special this season. He went 2-for-5 with a double and a single to raise his batting average to .267 as a teenager at High-A.

Brian Kalmer (DH) continued his hot start to full-season ball as he went 1-for-4 with a double.

Grant Kipp (RHP) struggled over his five innings. He allowed four earned runs on six hits and a walk while adding three strikeouts. He’s still been great this year with a 3.24 ERA, but this certainly wasn’t his best start.
