The South Bend Cubs beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 5-3

A Michael Arias start has become one of the things I look forward to every week now. His ability to make hitters look silly so recently removed from being a hitter himself is truly a joy to watch and now that South Bend has added a couple of their top draft picks from the 2023 class there’s a lot to look out for with this squad.

Ezequiel Pagan (OF) has struggled since a scorching start. He did hit his fifth homer of the year in this one as he went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Felix Stevens (OF) has been scorching lately as he hit his seventh homer of the season on a 1-for-3 day while adding a walk.

Josh Rivera (SS) looks like a great pick out of Florida. He went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a single, and an RBI.

Michael Arias (RHP) wasn’t his normal dominant self but he avoided major trouble. He went five innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits, three walks, and added six strikeouts. He hasn’t been quite as good since reaching High-A but there’s so much potential here it’s hard not to get excited.
