Iowa Cubs (AAA) (60-44)

The Iowa Cubs beat the Toledo Mud Hens 3-1

The Iowa Cubs have put up some tremendous offensive performances this season but sometimes it’s nice to see a close win in a low-scoring game. It was a big game for the Cubs’ top prospect and another of their top ten had a great start on the mound, but it was really just a great team win.

Miles Mastrobuoni (2B) continued to mash AAA pitching. He went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, and a run scored to take his season average at AAA to .301. I know Cubs fans aren’t huge fans of his, but he has the potential to be a valuable utility man if he can get his major league production to look like his minor league production.

Luis Vazquez (SS) went 1-for-1 with a single, two walks and an RBI.

Pete Crow-Armstrong (OF) is still a very good baseball player regardless of what level he’s at. He got his first hit yesterday at AAA in the form of a solo home run, hopefully the first of many.

Jordan Wicks (LHP) would not be outdone by another top prospect as he threw five innings and only allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out three.
