Iowa Cubs (AAA) (59-42)

The Iowa Cubs had their game against the Toledo Mud Hens Rained Out

Tennessee Smokies (AA) (56-41)

The Tennessee Smokies beat the Chattanooga Lookouts 13-4

The Smokies have been scoring runs in the same way as the major league club with some names that you wouldn’t expect to see on a recap as the biggest producers of that offense. Beyond that, a former first-round pick continued to absolutely dominate hitters from the mound despite moving up a level of competition.

Owen Caissie (OF) went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple with two RBI and two runs scored.

Andy Weber (2B) went 1-for-4 with a single, a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

Jordan Nwogu (OF) continued his hot streak as he hit a grand slam and also drew a walk.

Levi Jordan (SS) went 1-for-4 with a single, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.

Cade Horton (RHP) dominated. He threw four innings of scoreless baseball and only allowed two hits and no walks while striking out six.

South Bend Cubs (A+) (44-53)

The South Bend Cubs lost to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-2

South Bend fell back into their old ways of being unable to string together meaningful hits and turn it into offensive production. They only had one extra-base hit in the game and only had four hits period. Until the offense wakes up it’s going to be hard for the Cubs to get back to winning baseball.

James Triantos (2B) went 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored. Yesterday’s game brought him to a .300 batting average on the season.

Felix Stevens (OF) went 1-for-3 with a double a walk and an RBI.

Adam Laskey (LHP) threw two scoreless innings and only allowed one hit and no walks while striking out three.

Yovanny Cruz (RHP) threw 1.2 perfect innings to keep his ERA at 0.00 with one strikeout.

Frankie Scalzo Jr. (RHP) threw 1.1 innings and only gave up one run (no earned) on two hits while striking out none and walking none.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans (A) (55-42)

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans lost to the Down East Wood Ducks 8-6 (Game 1)

They Myrtle Beach Pelicans lost to the Down East Wood Ducks 4-3 (Game 2)

The Pelicans were on the wrong side of a big comeback in game one of this doubleheader. They had a 4-0 lead to start the game due to the score prior to the suspension on Tuesday, but it was a tie game by the end of the third inning and that would spell doom for Myrtle Beach. The second game featured a much better pitching performance all around, but it would also lead to a loss as the Pelicans were swept in their double header.

Rafael Morel (OF) went 2-for-3 with a home run, a single, two RBI, and a run scored.

Ismael Mena (OF) went 2-for-3 with two singles and a stolen base.

Reivaj García (1B) went a combined 3-for-8 with a double, two singles, a walk, an RBI and a run scored across both games.

Parker Chavers (OF) went 1-for-4 with a single, a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

Pedro Ramirez (2B) went 1-for-2 with a single, a walk, and a run scored.

Brian Kalmer (DH) went 2-for-2 in his debut with two singles, a walk and a run scored.

Nick Hull (RHP) only lasted three innings in the first game and he gave up seven runs (six earned) on three hits, four walks and only three strikeouts.

Jackson Ferris (LHP) threw 3.1 hitless innings. He did allow an earned run on two walks but he also struck out nine in what would be a theme for the evening as 17 of the 18 outs the Pelicans recorded were strikeouts.

Gregori Montano (RHP) went one inning and gave up three earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three.

Angel Hernandez (LHP) finished up the game with 1.2 perfect innings and struck out all five batters he faced.
