MLB The Show 23 is officially released next week and it has become the pinnacle of baseball video games and has featured former Chicago Cubs superstars on the cover of previous iterations including Javier Baez gracing the front of MLB The Show 20.

Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm will be on the cover of MLB The Show 23 but on Monday, it was officially revealed that Cubs legend Sammy Sosa will be included in the game.

Sosa's inclusion in MLB The Show 23 will certainly be a tremendous sight to see for Cubs fans. Since Sosa had a controversial exit from the Cubs' organization in 2004, many Cubs fans have been calling for the legendary outfielder to be embraced once again at Wrigley Field. Since taking ownership control of the Cubs, Tom Ricketts put the onus on Sosa to make amends first before welcoming the slugger back to Wrigley Field. Ricketts' stance is essentially the reason why Sosa hasn't been re-embraced by Major League Baseball in the same fashion that Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire were with the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals respectively.

McGwire will also be featured in MLB The Show 23 and the inclusion of both he and Sosa will undoubtedly take fans back to their legendary home-run race during the Summer of 1998.

The hope is that Sosa's inclusion in MLB The Show 23 puts renewed pressure on Ricketts to welcome the legend back to Wrigley Field. Sosa deserves to be welcomed back by the organization that he put back onto the map.
