5 Chicago Cubs prospects that could be promoted soon - 1. Ben Brown

The trade of David Robertson at last year's deadline, in which Chicago acquired RHP Ben Brown, is quickly becoming an absolute steal for the Cubs' front office. Still just 23 years old, Brown is off to a scorching hot start in Double-A Tennessee, and a promotion to Triple-A Iowa could easily be justified if the Cubs pulled the trigger now. Brown has a 0.60 ERA in his three starts, 15 innings pitched, and 22 punchouts recorded on the season.

With a potential breakout season in the midst, the Cubs will likely opt to be cautious and let Brown continue building his confidence for a little while, but what he is doing in the Cubs organization cannot be ignored. Brown is just one of several pitching prospects ready to turn a major corner and fulfill Jed Hoyer's vision of a newly revamped farm system with several solid arms. It won't be long before Brown is at Triple-A Iowa, where he will be just one phone call away from the show.
