5 Chicago Cubs prospects that could be promoted soon - 4. Luke Little

Accompanying Birdsell in High-A is Luke Little, who is another stellar prospect pitcher in the Cubs organization with a high ceiling. Little was promoted to High-A towards the end of last year and recorded a 0.69 ERA in his small sample size of 13 innings before the year drew to a close. Since then, he has only impressed and become further polished in High-A, as he owns a sparkly 0.84 ERA in 10.2 frames, identical to Birdsell before him.

Little is still just 22, and his potential grows more and more each time he takes the mound. At 6'8" and 220, Little's massive presence on the mound bodes well for a Cubs team lacking viable southpaws at the top of their organization. Should he continue like this, it's a no-brainer for the Cubs to put him on the fast track and see what he is made of at the higher levels. The Cubs need as many homegrown contributing arms as possible to have as much money for free agency as possible, so it wouldn't surprise me if guys like Little get promoted to a higher level before long.
