2. Seiya Suzuki
Speaking of players that have scorched Earth in the second half, Seiya Suzuki's 150 wRC+ last season in the second half showed that he has turned the corner at the MLB level. He, too, is at the 120 mark in the second half currently, but he has shown that he can be someone who can provide an offensive spark in critical stretches. Last year, the Cubs missed a Wild Card by one game, and Suzuki was about the farthest guy away you could blame for the team falling short.
This season, Suzuki has moved primarily to DH unless he is needed in the field so he can focus on batting every day and get into one of his grooves. In August, he has hit just .250/.325/.382, as opposed to the .299/.376/.546 slash he recorded in July. If you believe in peaks and valleys, it is time for Suzuki to step back up offensively. If he does, it will help the Cubs secure a winning recording in September, which is critical if they want to play October baseball.
