1 Chicago Cubs player down after the Opening Series - Cody Bellinger
It was a less than desirable start to the season for center fielder Cody Bellinger. Bellinger was hitless in his 12 plate appearances against the Brewers and it appears that his swing approach reverted back to the approach he had when during the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of Bellinger's 12 plate appearances over the Cubs' first 3 games is that 4 of them ended with a strikeout.
Bellinger did have an encouraging Spring Training with the Cubs and that is reason why it is still far too early tor ring the alarm bells. Bellinger has been a below-average offensive player for the past two seasons and the only ask that the Cubs may have is for him to, at least, reach the baseline of competency from an offensive standpoint.
