Kyle Tucker's insane projections have him chasing several Cubs records

Chicago Cubs fans probably didn't realize just how good a start Kyle Tucker is currently enjoying.

New Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker has gotten off to a better start than fans, the front office, and his teammates could only dream about when he was struggling through Spring Training. That start to the year is so good that he’s already taken home a Player of the Week award and anchored his red-hot squad's middle of the order.

What people may not realize is just how good Tucker’s start to the season has been. The slugger is hitting .327 with 5 home runs, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored and 5 doubles. He’s done all that in just 13 games, and because he put up those numbers in such a short amount of time, his season projections are legitimately insane.

Marquee Network’s Tony Andracki ran the numbers and projected that if the Chicago Cubs outfielder continues on this pace, Kyle Tucker will finish the 2025 campaign with around 62 homers, 199 RBI, 174 runs scored, and 62 doubles.

Those projections should obviously be taken with a grain of salt. After all, those 62 homers would put him on pace to have the most round trippers since Sammy Sosa hit 64 in 2001. It would also put him just four blasts behind the Cubs record 66 homers that Sosa hit in 1998.

If Tucker managed to drive in 199 runs, it would set the club’s record, narrowly surpassing Hack Wilson’s 191 RBI all the way back in 1930. It would shatter Sosa’s modern-era record of 160 he set in 2001.

The 174 runs scored would set a Cubs record, blasting past Rogers Hornsby’s 156 RS in 1926 and once again, beating out Sosa’s 2001 modern era record of 146. Finally, Kyle Tucker’s projected 62 doubles would pass Billy Herman’s 57 two-baggers that he recorded in back-to-back seasons in 1935 and 1936. It would also obliterate the modern-era record of 51, held by Mark Grace from the 1995 season.

The chances that the Chicago Cubs star will hit any of those numbers are slim, but it does once again show why there has been such a push to sign the former Houston Astro to an extension before he has the chance to try the open market this offseason.
