Every few weeks, it seems that Kyle Tucker's first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers reaches a new low point. Perhaps this is what the Chicago Cubs knew they would be avoiding when they seemed all to comfortable letting him walk last offseason.
Tucker was benched on Saturday during the Dodgers' loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, and the reason was that he has struggled considerably at Dodger Stadium this year. Tucker sports a slash line of .186/.286/.272 at Dodger Stadium this year, placing his wRC+ at 60. He's much better on the road, boasting a wRC+ of 131, but that is just about the only thing he has excelled at this year.
The misery doesn't stop there for Tucker and the Dodgers. Dodgers returned to the lineup on Sunday, and not only did he go hitless, he had a defensive effort in right field that looked all too familiar to Cubs fans. Tucker misplayed a ball off the wall, and didn't exactly put forth the greatest effort in his recovery.
The response from Dodgers fans, as one would expect, was to shower Tucker with a parade of boos.
Fans booed Kyle Tucker after he failed to make this catch in right field.

Tucker's run with the Cubs last season should have been a cautionary tale for the Dodgers. There was a clear disconnect between Tucker and the Cubs at the end of the 2025 season. While defenders of Tuckers were quick to point out that he was injured and the success he had to open the season, anyone who followed the Cubs knew that the pairing seemed off by October.
Considering that the struggles, and questions of motivation, have now surfaced with the Dodgers, everyone seems to have take on it. In fact, one executive, through a Diamondbacks fan, suggested that Tucker was going to be the next Kris Bryant.
Kyle Tucker's Dodgers tenure takes familiar Cubs turn with Kris Bryant jab
Fun fact - before the season I asked an exec what he thought of Tucker's signing because I thought it was devastating for us.

His paraphrased response: I think he's the next Kris Bryant. I don't think he loves baseball. He got paid. He's going to suck.

Cubs fans are quick to jump in on the dunking of Tucker, but comparing his run with the Dodgers to Kris Bryant's with the Colorado Rockies isn't fair. For Bryant, it's not a matter of motivation or desire to play the game. The former National League MVP is dealing with a degenerative back issue that is preventing him from playing.
Comparing Kris Bryant who physically has been unable to play to Kyle Tucker is wild. https://t.co/6Xd7ZOXQ5V

Bryant is dealing with chronic lumbar degenerative disk disease, and there remains serious doubt if he plays another game for the Rockies. His career could very well be over, and that is a far different story from what is happening with Tucker this season.
A Kyle Tucker to Kris Bryant comparison is absolutely nasty work by this exec. Totally different scenarios.

Feels like Anthony Rendon is the comparison he’s looking for https://t.co/GM1IGxYXGJ
Regardless, Tucker's latest low point with the Dodgers is a reminder of the headache the Cubs don't have to deal with this season. There's no doubt that Tucker once had the talent to be considered one fo the best bats in all of baseball, but that version of the outfielder hasn't been around since the first half of the 2025 season. The longer that remains the case, the more it seems that version of Tucker may never return.
