Many Chicago Cubs fans still feel the sting of Len Kasper leaving the team's television broadcast booth in favor of becoming the Chicago White Sox play-by-play man on the radio for ESPN 1000. Many fans grew up with Kasper's style and his ability to relate to common Cubs fans. Coming from ESPN, often with a national-type broadcast, Sciambi has had his fair share of critics during his time calling Cubs games.

Oftentimes, the criticisms feel like Cubs fans just being afraid of change and not willing to get past the loss of Kasper. That feels like what was the case during the Cubs' victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.

While the game featured an immaculate inning from Andrew Kittredge, there was a no-hit bid taking place for the Cleveland Guardians' starting pitcher, Gavin Williams, against the New York Mets. Something Sciambi not only referenced during the Cubs' game, but also indicated that he was watching something else instead of the game that was taking place in front of him.

Boog Sciambi finds a new way to infuriate Cubs fans

Williams' no-hit bid was broken up in the ninth inning when Juan Soto homered to give the Mets their only run of the game. However, Cubs fans were still reeling from the fact that Sciambi was so bold as to say that he was paying attention to what was happening in New York.

It seems like a silly thing to be mad about. Above all else, Sciambi is a baseball broadcaster. Part of his job is to not only talk about the Cubs, but also present what is going on across Major League Baseball to Cubs fans. And, most Cubs fans likely had an eye on the no-hit bid as well.

It's also silly to think that Sciambi is incapable of multitasking, a rather important part of being a baseball broadcaster. Getting mad at Sciambi over this feels like a lazy form of projection from the Cubs fanbase. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at Jed Hoyer. Don't be mad at someone referring to watching something more entertaining than Cubs' games over the last week.
