Cubs fans just got roasted by a Chicago host for their NLDS meltdown

The Chicago Cubs' deflating loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 5 of the NLDS has Cubs fans doing the unthinkable--rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. Of course, the Dodgers have become the new evil empire of Major League Baseball, and the hatred for them stems from the fact that they aren't afraid to throw money at their problems (or their strengths).

Add in the fact that Cubs fans were salty at how the Brewers trolled the Cubs after Game 5, and Laurence Holmes of 670 The Score was ready to call BS. As Holmes points out, it's weird energy for Cubs fans to be in their feels with how the Brewers have roasted them since the NLCS, and it's even stranger for Cubs fans to be afraid to root for a team like the Dodgers.

"Your team is supposed be the evil empire in the National League Central. You're supposed to be them. It's supposed to be you and the Dodgers."

How the Cubs' 2025 season ended was another reminder that the Brewers, when it comes to player development and on-field operations, are the better baseball organization than the Cubs, and it hasn't been close for some time. If that makes you mad, make sure your energy is toward the fact that the Cubs generated the third most revenue of any baseball team in 2024, $584MM, but were 14th in payroll in 2025, $213MM.

The only advantage that the Cubs have over the Brewers is the ability to spend money. But as long as the Cubs are afraid to lean into the idea that they should be right there with the Dodgers as part of the evil empire, most seasons will end with the feeling of what the Cubs should have done instead of what they actually did.
