Cubs dugout unrecognizable ahead of Wrigley Field hosting Ohio State vs. Northwestern
The next Chicago Cubs' baseball game at Wrigley Field is not until April of next year when the Cubs play the San Diego Padres in their home opener of the 2025 season but before then, there will be several events at The Friendly Confines.
One of those events is taking place today as the Northwestern Wildcats will be hosting the Ohio State Buckeyes. The game between the two teams is underway but in pictures shared of Wrigley Field beforehand, the Cubs' dugout is unrecognizable.
Beyond their being a football game played at Wrigley Field in 2024, it's even more strange seeing Wrigley Field without the Cubs' dugout. In the conversion of Wrigley Field from hosting baseball to hosting a college football game, the Cubs' dugout was filled with foam covered by plastic boards. The field was then placed over it. It's a cool sight to see and a reminder of when Wrigley Field was formerly the home of the Chicago Bears.

The game between the Wildcats and Buckeyes on Saturday is the first of two college football games that will be played at Wrigley Field this season. On November 30, the Wildcats will return to Wrigley Field in another Big 10 College Football Game against the Fighting Illini.
Following November 30, it's likely that work will begin on converting Wrigley Field into an ice rink. Dubbed as The Frozen Confines, Wrigley Field will host a total of five hockey games beginning on New Year's Eve, with a game between the Chicago Blackhawks. Following the game between the Blackhawks and Blues, Wrigley Field will host a total of four collegiate hockey games between January 3 and January 4.
