The Chicago Cubs are proving on Friday night that they are ready to take back the National League Central from the Milwaukee Brewers.

After the Brewers made a last-minute change to their pitching plans on Friday night, the Cubs responded by scoring 9 runs across the first two innings of the game. Included in the onslaught of runs to open the game for the Cubs mammoth home run hit by Pete Crow-Armstrong.

The home run marked Crow-Armstrong's seventh of the season, but he wasn't done there. Crow-Armstrong added his second home run of the night with a long ball off Joel Payamps in the 7th inning. By that point, Brewers fans were broken. As evident by the reaction of the fan who caught Crow-Armstrong's second home run of the night.

The Cubs are already breaking Brewers' fans

Nothing should bring Cubs fans more joy on this lovely night than the sight of a Brewers fan losing his mind because of the feats Crow-Armstrong.

This weekend is going to be a major test for the Cubs as the Brewers have defined the National League Central for much of the past decade. If the Cubs are truly ready to be one of the best teams in the National League, it will start by how they play against their division. After taking two-of-three from the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this week, the Cubs couldn't afford a letdown on Friday night against the Brewers. The Cubs needed to set the tone and that is exactly what they did.

But back to Crow-Armstrong. His two-home-run night on Friday is more confirmation of the Cubs being glad they didn't get who they originally asked for from the New York Mets in the 2021 deal at the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline. Crow-Armstrong isn't just having a breakout season, he is knocking on the door of becoming a superstar.

With each passing game, the price of Crow-Armstrong's next contract is only going up. While Crow-Armstrong is under contract until 2030, the Cubs likely will circle back on contract talks this offseason as they look to buy out his arbitration-eligible seasons.
