The Chicago Cubs got their guy - and there's more to come.

Jed Hoyer showed an uncharacteristically high level of aggressiveness, closing a deal that started to take shape at the Winter Meetings this week, landing All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker in exchange for Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski and prospect Cam Smith on Friday. The move fired up a fanbase that's been desperate for a big-name addition in recent years, bringing the type of excitement we haven't felt in a long time.

It appears the feeling is mutual, with Tucker reportedly excited to come to the North Side and play for what he called 'an iconic franchise'.

Cubs seem far from done - even after trading for Kyle Tucker

Tucker will slot in as the everyday right fielder, as Hoyer looks to trade Cody Bellinger and his $32.5 million price tag. Despite his reported unhappiness about it, Seiya Suzuki now looks guaranteed to be a full-time DH, only getting occasional outfield reps when Tucker needs a day off (which probably won't happen all that often).

His resume speaks for itself: this is the best player the Cubs have had in five years - and in just over a month at Cubs Convention, Tucker will get to experience the best of Cubs Nation when thousands descend on downtown Chicago to get ready for the 2025 season. If he wasn't already excited, that experience has always been an eye-opener for players and it no doubt will be the same for the three-time All-Star.

At this point, he's a true rental, set to hit free agency at the end of next year. The hope is his experience at Wrigley next year in front of the best fans in the game, paired with a newfound willingness to spend big on the part of ownership, will keep him here for years to come. But even if it's a one-year run - it has all the makings of being something very, very exciting.
