As if Anthony Rizzo's emotional return to Wrigley Field to celebrate his retirement wasn't special enough, the impossible nearly happened in the bottom of the second inning when Chicago Cubs rookie Moises Ballesteros showed off his opposite-field power, launching a ball into the left field bleachers for his first MLB home run.

Amongst the thousands of Cubs faithful in the bleachers, Rizzo, surrounded by his friends and family, was somehow on the receiving end of the long ball - but even his four Gold Gloves and a Platinum Glove couldn't help him haul it in, with the ball bouncing off his hand and into the next row.

Anthony Rizzo is living his best life in the Wrigley Field bleachers

Just statistically speaking, the odds of this happening are astronomical - but that's always been the thing about baseball. The impossible can happen on any given day. It's safe to say Ballesteros won't ever forget his first career homer, because it garnered way more publicity than you'd expect given Rizzo's presence in the bleachers.

Rizzo got the ball back from the friend who ended up with it and fired it back onto the field to make sure the Cubs' rookie got it. During his half-inning visit with Boog and JD during the broadcast, he jokingly said he expects a signed ball or bat back from Ballesteros.

“Thank you, just the unwavering support,” Rizzo told fans in a media appearance prior to the game. “I thought the coolest thing getting traded was that first year, every single stadium I went to, there were so many Cubs fans in my jersey coming to see me as a Yankee.

The face of the franchise for a generation of Cubs fans is finally home - and it's safe to say he's making the most of his first day as an ambassador, living out the life of the bleacher bums who cheered him during his 10-year career in Chicago.
