Chicago Cubs: A get-to-know-you of the minor league affiliates

Amidst the stress, emotions and drama surrounding the Chicago Cubs – there is a silver lining in all of it. That begins with understanding the breakdown of the organization’s minor league affiliates and the young talent hoping to be part of the next great Cubs team. Yes, it feels hopeless right now, like it was pre-Theo and for many years prior to that. However, there is a lot to look forward to in the coming seasons.

The restructure across Minor League Baseball this past season felt unjustified with so many teams getting the boot. However, it simplified organizational structure and made them more transparent about prospects and where they may fit.

If you’re a fan who’s familiar with the Cubs and their minor league squads, then fantastic. If you’re not in the know about the affiliates, though, then buckle up. I’m going to break down each level and, most importantly, some names you should know. For this exercise, we’ll be touching on each level through Double-A.
