Chicago Cubs – Rowan Wick

The Cubs’ Rowan Wick needed to be the reliever we thought he was. And he was just that. After appearing with the San Diego Padres for just 8 1/3 innings with an ERA+ of 62? He broke out in a big way with the Cubs. Now in his second season with the Cubs, he needs to lead the way.

Last year, he had an ERA of 2.43 in 31 games (33 1/3 innings.) He had 35 strikeouts, a WHIP of 1.140, and an ERA+ of 185. In 33 1/3 innings, he allowed zero home runs. Nada. In just 4 1/3 innings, he allowed two home runs and a whopping 21.9 H/9. His ERA is 17.36 for spring training, and he needs to get that way down.

I don’t feel like I know which way to go on Wick. With the Padres, he was awful. Of course, they’re awful. And I think that Wick was ready to leave San Diego. But 2019 of the Cubs’ Wick? Man, that’s what I’m down with. Can you imagine letting Wick close? It’s been discussed.
