More rumors have begun to swirl again as Chicago Cubs start Kris Bryant’s future with the franchise remains very unclear. Some fans may want to see a haul for Bryant, but just take a minute to think about it first.

Questions about whether Kris Bryant will get a contract extension with the Chicago Cubs before his years of control are up have come up quite frequently since the end of the 2018 season. Will him and agent Scott Boras ever agree to an extension before the 2021 season concludes? Or will he test free agency?

While nobody knows for sure, each passing day it feels more and more likely he will be a free agent in the winter of 2021-2022.

A few weeks ago ESPN’s Jeff Passan came out with an article that discussed the upcoming offseason and big names that teams could be listening to offers to – including Bryant. Nothing in this article is says the names listed will for sure be dealt, but that offers could be listened to. So, it is just stating the obvious of what teams do every offseason. Though the piece still stirred up plenty of discussions.

Because of Bryant’s contract status, the money he will command and the Cubs likely looking to “shake things up” in the offseason, the desire to trade the former NL MVP can seem more tempting. Before going down that road, just take a few things into consideration first.
