With just weeks until the trade deadline, Cubs rumors are swirling, with the team reportedly interested in Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta.

Each season Major League Baseball’s trade deadline is one of the most anticipated and exciting days of the year. The Chicago Cubs currently sit in first place atop a crowded National League Central, but that seems to mean it’s only more likely the team makes some moves in the next few weeks.

The Cubs have more problems than most first-place teams typically do, but adding another left-handed hitting outfielder to the mix doesn’t seem to address much given the makeup of the team’s current outfield. But, according to Ken Rosenthal, Chicago is among a number of teams interested in Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta.

Joe Maddon currently has Kyle Schwarber operating on a regular basis left field and while there is no news of the club moving Schwarber, adding Peralta to the mix may open the possibility up where Schwarber could finally be utilized as a trade piece at the deadline.
