Flying under the radar as the 16th ranked prospect for the Chicago Cubs, Yovanny Cruz has shown an ability to play as a future cog in the organization’s wheel. The teenager is undoubtedly excited to earn his opportunity.

A mere four days ago, the Chicago Cubs decided to call up their number four overall pitching prospect Adbert Alzolay. Following a dazzling debut in which Alzolay earned his first major league win, after entering to relieve the night’s starter Tyler Chatwood, it got the wheels turning for the Cubs brass and fans alike.

Alzolay is one of the most talented pitching prospects in Chicago’s farm system, and he showed his stuff during his first major league appearance. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of talent holding steady in the organization. One such arm, for instance, is 19-year-old Yovanny Cruz, who the team signed back in 2016 for $60,000 out of the Dominican Republic.

Cruz has not made an appearance so far in 2019, however, do not let that scare you away from what he has already managed to accomplish in a few short professional seasons, especially as a teenager. Following the success of Alzolay, could Cruz become a next great phenom for the Cubs in the next few seasons?
