A few more Northside Avengers
Every super team must have at least one brain behind the operation. One of the Avenger’s smartest is Doctor Strange, and our Northside equivalent is Professor Strike.
Professor Strike – also known as one of the Cubs best hurlers, Kyle Hendricks is smart and athletic! His teammates already call him the Professor the way he goes about his business on the mound. Hendricks also had some incredible videos that show his finesse on the mound. Able to out-think batters and put the ball where it can’t be hit, is Hendricks forte. Super accuracy and intelligence are both classic characteristics of a superhero.
The Launch Angel – The ladies love this man even though he’s married. He’s an all-around good guy hence the “Angel” which is a play on words for the way he can drive the ball out of the park with his ‘launch angle.’ You guessed it, Chicago Cubs third baseman, Kris Bryant. Bryant is like Thor taking a swing with his hammer and knocking the ball into the next galaxy. Bryant has one other superpower, and that is a lightning fast throw to first. The ability to swing the bat, like Thor swings the hammer, earns Bryant a spot on the Northside Avengers.
The Beast – technically the Beast is part of the X-Men crew, but by the way he jumps up to grab wild pitches and springs into action without hesitation earns catcher, Willson Contreras a place on the Northside Avengers.
There isn’t a base runner in MLB that isn’t scared of Contreras’ arm. His quick approach to wild balls and his hop to scare runners is the best in the game. Let’s add a bat that has six home runs already this season and maybe The Beast is making a wild run for MVP this season. His agility and quickness are sure signs of superpowers.
When you’re watching the Avengers- Endgame this week, don’t forget the friendly Northside Avengers and be sure to catch their videos on the Chicago Cubs Official YouTube Channel. Chicago’s mightiest mortals will impress you for sure with some super-baseball.
