It is no secret the Chicago Cubs find themselves in the bottom tier of farm systems across Major League Baseball. That being said despite this reality, there is a bright future ahead for a particular starting pitcher within the organization.

Over the previous four seasons, the Cubs’ strong young talent has taken center stage. This talent has led the club to four straight playoff births as well as a coveted World Championship. Make no mistake about it: Theo Epstein has done a masterful job in building a sustainable winning franchise.

As fun as it is to relish in what many call the ‘Golden Age’ of Cubs baseball, it is important to continue keeping our eyes forward for the future. Thankfully, the club does have a bevy of talented young pitchers within the top ten of the current farm system. Now, they may not be as gifted as the San Diego Padres, at least on paper, yet do not fret.

One name, in particular, a confident Brailyn Marquez who currently resides as the number three overall prospect in the organization, is showing his moxie early on in the new season. If Marquez can continue to light it up, fans may see the lanky left-hander sooner rather than later.
