While the majority of baseball fans continued to bathe themselves in the first week of the Major League Baseball season, the Minor League Baseball season kicked off as Iowa, Tennessee, South Bend, and Myrtle Beach were all in action.

After an emphatic opening day road win in the great state of Texas, the Chicago Cubs found themselves on a torrid streak to begin the new year, and not in a good way. Yes, the new season is barely a week old however the club has not played up to its known ability, and it has been slow moving out of the gate.

Thankfully, however, more baseball kicked off this week as it was the opening weekend for all minor league teams across the league. The Triple-A Iowa Cubs started their season off right, taking three out of four versus the Nashville Sounds, while the Double-A Tennessee Smokies also capped off a four-game set winning three. South Bend, the Cubs’ Class-A squad, split their series, while Myrtle Beach, the teams Class-A Advanced group stumbled to a 1-3 start.
