I joined fellow CubbiesCrib contributors Alex Patt and Adam McGinnis on the latest episode of Climbing the Ivy last week, and Kris Bryant was a popular topic due to his comments about MLB’s collective bargaining agreement and on what the Chicago Cubs expectations from the outside look like.

In short, we all believe the Chicago Cubs Kris Bryant is out for a repeat of his 2016 campaign, or maybe even better, this coming season. Here are three reasons why Bryant could become a 2-time NL MVP come seasons end.

You’d think after winning the NL Rookie Of The Year and NL MVP award in your first two major league seasons would put you near the top in terms of the list of baseball’s best, but it seems many have forgotten what he’s done throughout his career. Why else would Baseball Prospectus list the Cubs at 79 wins for the upcoming season? Why would Bryant be rumored as a potential trade chip?

Sure, Bryant was hurt last season, which led to a dip in almost every statistic the average fan may look at but what was he doing before he got hurt? Bryant entered June with a slash line of .286/.401/.524. That’s fantastic numbers heading into June, but we know how things ended.
