PECOTA projections have Chicago Cubs fans in a panic, but it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve been wrong. Plus, our staff got together for a roundtable discussion as we head into 2019.

The PECOTA projections aren’t new. But this year while looking down upon the Chicago Cubs? Many have taken notice. The thing is, they aren’t often correct. They missed the Cubs 2016 team by quite a few wins. The 2015 Kansas City Royals? They picked them at 72 wins and last in their division. 95 wins later, and a World Series, the system at likely needed a revision. So in short, just relax. They don’t mean anything.

Before the first Spring Training game, we got together for a virtual roundtable discussion about the Cubs. We looked at a few topics that many feel will be most relevant while also making some early predictions about the team. We cover everything from Kris Bryant to our ‘old’ starting rotation and more.

It’s hard to look at a season where you’ve won 95 games and find disappointment. But that was the case last season. The Cubs slowly began to lose their grasp on the division, eventually losing in a tie-breaker to the Milwaukee Brewers. It followed with the one-game Wild Card loss to the Colorado Rockies and suddenly, baseball as done. 2018 might be just what the Cubs needed, but it still tore at the fans that we’re hoping for more.
