While most of the key players on the Chicago Cubs roster are under team control or under contract after 2019, there are a few who will be unrestricted free agents come the offseason.

The current Chicago Cubs 40-man roster holds seven contracts that will be expiring after 2019 concludes. They will all be unrestricted free agents come November. In addition to that, there are five players with club options next year and one (Brad Brach) with a mutual option.

It seems like an extremely early time to think about this, but entering what is possibly the final season for a number of these guys is worth talking about. Depending on where the team is guys on expiring contracts can be traded for future value or could be playing for a bigger deal in upcoming free agency.

Here is a look at the Cubs players who will see their contracts expire after this season. Do note that non-roster invitees obviously do not count in this situation. We will also discuss players with club options next season after going over 2020 UFAs first.
