My oh my, it is that time of year again. Chicago Cubs baseball is officially back on Saturday as they begin Cactus League play against the Milwaukee Brewers.
After a long and trying offseason filled with off-the-field drama and a feeling of complacency from the front office in free agency, the Chicago Cubs will take the field with a very similar roster to that of the 2018 club that fell off late in the season before falling in the NL Wild Card game.
Chicago’s quiet offseason has resulted in a good deal of skepticism on behalf of the baseball community, including the PECOTA projection model that has the Cubs finishing in last place in the NL Central with a mere 79 wins.
As the North Siders try to tune out the noise and prepare for the regular season, a group of the writers at Cubbies Crib answered some of the most pressing questions facing the team this season.
So, without further adieu, here’s how the guys look at the club as Cactus League action kicks off in Arizona this afternoon.
