The Chicago Cubs 40-man roster features a mix of veterans and prospects that are looking to either impress or bounce back in 2019.

Spring Training performances are always more important for some players than others. While the Chicago Cubs have several intriguing non-roster invitees, there are guys on the 40-man roster who are also looking to make a strong impression this spring. Sometimes it is not even the stats put up; it is how they look and feel physically.

40-man roster players to keep a sharp eye on are mainly prospects who made the roster or veterans coming off injury…or both. Healthy veterans like Anthony Rizzo, Javy Baez, Jon Lester etc. are just getting back in the groove and their spring performances do not carry much weight. The Cubs, however, have plenty of prospects and rehabbing players on the 40-man roster who fit the criteria for this upcoming list.

Depending on the player; they may not be on the roster very long. Prospects who are not imminently projected to make the 25-man roster are often sent to the minors before Spring Training ends. Regardless of length, here are five guys to watch this spring:
