The Chicago Cubs made twenty total selections in this past year’s Major League Baseball amateur player draft. While other names are being discussed, one player, in particular, could prove to be a future dark horse.

When you look at Andy Weber, his overall stature does not jump out to anyone. Standing at just 6’1″, 190 pounds Weber profiles as a burner with a smooth, steady swing and a level of respectable consistency.

Weber is a second baseman, which works out great for the Cubs as he continues his development. The club needs depth at the position and while Weber is still a few years away from making an impact, knowing there is depth in the system can give fans a guiding hope for the next decade.

Currently, Weber does not profile as one of the Cubs’ top 30 prospects however it should not be of concern. At just 21 years old, and coming off a solid first year at the professional level, Weber looks to continue to make an impact.
