Chicago Cubs: Another under-the-radar name who could help the team

Dominican-born right-hander Carlos Ramirez was invited to camp after spending most of his career in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Last season between the Jays and Oakland Athletics organization he pitched to a 3.49 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in Triple-A and a 3.25 ERA in 8 1/3 MLB innings.

Ramirez has a career 2.88 ERA and 0.840 WHIP in 25 MLB innings and a 2.68 ERA in 201 2/3 MiLB innings. He also pitched to a 2.45 ERA in 22 innings this year in the Dominican Winter League.

Who knows if Ramirez becomes anything long term with the Cubs this year, but it is an asset worth bringing in. His numbers across the board are pretty good and could end up being some nice depth. If not? Nothing lost.
