This guy is definitely the moral compass we’ve all been looking for.
First of all, does Molina even like St. Louis? I mean, he obviously likes winning and they’ve had a good team almost the entire time he’s been playing. He probably likes the fans, who are, admittedly, very passionate and knowledgeable about their Redbirds. He also undoubtedly likes their money, as he’s been paid handsomely in his time there. But, we’re not talking about any of those things.
Kris Bryant said no one wants to go there because the city is boring, not because the team stinks or the fans aren’t great. He’s also making jokes and talking to Cubs’ fans at a Cubs’ convention. Think he might be trying to excite the fans by degrading the enemy and giving his own fans something to cheer about during a long, cold winter? (Think he maybe talked to his former friend and teammate Dexter Fowler about the differences between St. Louis and Chicago? Or better yet, maybe his current teammate, Jason Heyward?)
Why is Molina even listening to anything that comes out of the Cubs’ Convention? Better yet, why does he even care? His team has added Paul Goldschmidt and Andrew Miller, probably the two biggest names so far this winter. Dude, grab a Snickers and chill out with an umbrella drink on a beach somewhere.
If you look at what Molina wrote on his Instagram page, it’s grammatically incorrect stream-of-consciousness that ridicules Bryant for being stupid when his own hashtag reads “#cerorespectforthisstupidplayers.” So, just to get this straight- another player is stupid for saying a city you just happen to play baseball in is boring, but saying “this stupid players” is cool? Forget the grammatical faux pas, and we’re still left with Molina disrespecting another player when his whole issue with the feigned affront is a lack of respect. Things that make you go hmmm.
