Chicago Cubs: It’s time to push forward
Given his tremendous past, Zach Britton has a certain allure to him. Make no mistake about it. But the Cubs don’t need a ‘star’ to join their bullpen. They need quality depth – even a Justin Wilson-type deal could bolster an already strong relief corps.
Do we go ‘buy low’ on a guy like Britton? Maybe we head out west to check in with the Padres? Time will tell. But Theo and Jed going out and pulling the trigger on pitching is about as sure of a thing as we’ve seen in some time.

Brandon Morrow may only miss a couple weeks – but we knew this could happen when we signed him. The biggest knock against him seemed to always come back to his health and injury history. Now, he’s hardly warranted concern with his work on the hill – but the Cubs need an insurance policy as they chase down a fourth-straight postseason appearance.
