It was 4 2/3 innings again, and the Chicago Cubs’ Yu Darvish lost his way. After rolling through the Colorado Rockies, he hit a spot that he couldn’t get out of it. Because of it, the Cubs lost again.

Four innings of work and the Chicago CubsYu Darvish was rolling. And then, the fifth inning happened. 12 times in the fifth inning he’s allowed a run–a more than curious note. But that said, Darvish couldn’t get out of the fifth inning while taking the loss for the Cubs. Willson Contreras nearly hit a three-run home run, but it just missed going out and settling for a double. After that, the Cubs failed to get a hit for the final four innings. It was a little bit hitting and a lot of pitching as the Cubs dropped another one.

With the news that Ben Zobrist was headed to the DL with back tightness, rookie David Bote got the call he was waiting for. And Bote didn’t disappoint as he roped a double into right-center field for the first hit of his career. His time up might be short-lived as Zobrist is due to come back soon. But don’t forget the name Bote. It’s one you might want to remember as we get further down this season.

With Adbert Alzolay getting the call up to Triple-A Iowa, expectations were tempered as he made his debut. Apparently, they needed not to be as he had a heck of a debut. Alzolay needed just 75 pitches to get through six innings of one-run ball. He struck out six, walked two and allowed just a pair of hits. While it was just his first start in Triple-A, there’s not a whole lot of negative to take away from this. There’s a good chance that Alzolay will make his debut later on this year.
