Chicago Cubs News: Stanton to the Yankees, Cubs miss out on Ohtani

In the last two days, the Chicago Cubs missed out on Shohei Ohtani and Giancarlo Stanton. The good thing? They went to the American League and will do most of their damage over there.
The Miami Marlins and New York Yankees pulled a blockbuster deal, sending Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees for former Chicago Cubs second baseman Starlin Castro and more. It was a move that had the baseball world shook as they awoke this morning. And it created what can only be called a modern day Murderer’s Row with the MVP Stanton, the OTHER MVP Aaron Judge, and then Gary Sanchez to boot. Castro will be playing for his third team of his career, and that’s if he makes it through the rest of the offseason without being traded.
The Cubs also missed out on Shohei Ohtani who chose the Los Angeles Angels of the other six teams. While the Cubs didn’t sign the Japanese star, missing out on he and Stanton may keep the possibility open for a run at Bryce Harper next season–or a starting pitcher at the trade deadline. So fear not, Cubs fans, not all is lost in getting neither of the two.
We’re coming up the Winter Meetings, and things could get interesting on the Hot Stove. For the Cubs, they haven’t had much going on outside of signing Tyler Chatwood. So what about the bullpen? Do they go after Wade Davis? Our Adam McGinnis looks at the possibility of letting Davis go and looking at other options at closer.

You #Cubs fans are FOOLISH if you think Bryce Harper would rather patrol an outfield with Jason Heyward than he would with Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert. pic.twitter.com/myutVQ9qng
Maybe the #Cubs can pay for Arrieta in Bitcoin futures.
