There’s no question the Los Angeles Dodgers are a good baseball team, and the Chicago Cubs aren’t this bad. But it’s time to prove it as the Cubs face difficult odds down 3-0 in the NLCS.

Same old story, different day. On a day when the wind was blowing out at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs managed just one run as they were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-1. It started off as an exciting return, with the offense ready to do its thing. A Kyle Schwarber home run started things off right. But after that, the bats fell flat as that was the only run they could muster all game.

Kyle Hendricks wasn’t as sharp, missing location a few times which resulted in home runs allowed to Andre Ethier and Chris Taylor. When Carl Edwards Jr. gave up a four-pitch walk to the pitcher Yu Darvish? That was about the time that you felt this wasn’t going to happen. Errors, walks and lack of runs. Things that didn’t happen to the Cubs last season have come back to haunt them. Only one team has come back from a three-game deficit, and Theo Epstein was the mastermind behind that one.

With such a deficit, I felt like I needed to go back and watch the World Series from last year. First, it was nice to see some offense, as the Cubs were able to score some runs. But it helped me to remember how good this team is, and this is the third NLCS in a row for the Cubs. There’s no reason to hang your head watching this team. And there’s no reason to panic about next year. The Cubs still have all the pieces in place to be successful, they just need to add some pieces to it.
