Chicago Cubs: Anthony Rizzo is enjoying a fantastic campaign

Rizzo has been a rock for the Cubs to lean on

For the last three and a half seasons, Rizzo has been the horse for the Cubs. Appearing in 140, 160 and 155 games in 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively, Rizzo established himself as the face and heartbeat of the franchise.

While the leaner years of 2012-2014 required Rizzo to put more of the weight of the team on his shoulders since 2015 Rizzo has had help carrying the team. Despite that, Rizzo has emerged as one of the leaders for one of the best teams in baseball.

With 69 games left in the regular season, Rizzo and his teammates will need to step it up if they want a shot at another World Series title. Currently, the Cubs sit 1.5 games back of the Brewers in the NL Central. While many did not expect the Cubs to be in second place in the middle of July, the North Siders have turned it on of late, winning their last six.

As the summer continues and the Cubs attempt to make a postseason push one thing is certain. Anthony Rizzo will be at the forefront of that push.
