Who would’ve thought? The Chicago Cubs took one of their best run producers and put him in the leadoff spot. Joe Maddon, you must be crazy. Crazy? More like pure genius–and I didn’t see it coming.

This is one of the “high points” for this Chicago Cubs team. After another disappointing showing on Monday, the Cubs exploded on Mets’ starter, Zack Wheeler. They touched him up for eight runs in 1 1/2 innings as they cruised to a 14-3 win at Citi Field. Jon Lester was sensational on the mound, and Anthony Rizzo did his part from the leadoff spot as the Cubs put up nine runs in the first three innings.

The win on Tuesday night was big, but is it a sign of things to come or another false hope? Most Cubs’ fans have had their hand around the figurative panic for a while. So while they picked up a win last night, do the Cubs, and their fans still need to be worried? Everyone’s perception of this team is different, and whichever side you’re on–you’re not alone.

The Cubs have a legitimate question on their hands. Who is the ace of this staff? Over the past couple of years, there were several players to pick from. Now it seems that nobody wants it as the team is looking for someone to step up. Lester made a solid case for it on Tuesday. John Lackey did anything but in the series opener. Who will be the one to lead this staff?
