Three series for the Chicago Cubs and three series wins. It’s not always been pretty, but the Cubs are playing winning baseball–and they haven’t even started hitting the ball consistently yet.

Just like last October, the Chicago Cubs had the last laugh on the Los Angeles Dodgers. This wasn’t a season-ending series–but after a banner raising and a ring ceremony? The Cubs needed to make sure they made the final statement with a win. And that’s exactly what they did. Anthony Rizzo and Addison Russell homered as Brett Anderson tossed five shutout innings in the 4-0 win.

Regression is a part of baseball, and it’s not always a bad thing. Last season, the Cubs exceeded expectations on so many levels from so many players. There’s bound to be some regression along the way. Can Hendricks do it again? What about Russell? We look at five that could take a step back in 2017.

The Cubs have found consistency on offense to be difficult to find in the second week of the season. While the Cubs have taken the first three series, it’s not been an easy task for this offense. Thursday seemed to show they could be ready to turn the corner, but it’s hard to tell with just one game.
