After Wednesday’s rainout, the Chicago Cubs take on the St. Louis Cardinals in a rubber-match game behind veteran right-hander John Lackey.

On what was supposed to be a getaway day for the Chicago Cubs now holds a series finale showdown with the rival St. Louis Cardinals.

Chicago (1-1) evened the series on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory, courtesy of a strong outing from Jake Arrieta and a game-saving catch from outfielder Albert Almora. Still, the offense has struggled so far in the series and will look to rebound against Lance Lynn.

Lynn (0-0, 0.00) is making his first start since the 2015 NLDS. He missed the entire 2016 season due to injury, leaving a hole in the Cardinals’ starting rotation. His former teammate, Lackey, is entering the last season of his original contract with the Cubs.

38 years-of-age, the right-hander came from St. Louis to Chicago prior to last year, and did not disappoint. He made 29 starts for the Cubs, playing an integral role in the team’s World Series championship.
