The Chicago Cubs head into the 2017 season with a ton of talent and even more expectations. Which Cubs might be the ones to stand out and have a big season?

When you look at the Chicago Cubs and the roster, you could throw a dart at it to pick who might have a good year–and be right three out of four times. So with no scientific factor in play, I took a stab at who I thought might be the five guys to watch this season. This might be like our season predictions–I might hope nobody remembers. Although, I did pick the win total last season–so, there’s that.

Several Cubs have played or are currently playing in the World Baseball Classic this year. From John Andreoli‘s strong first round to Javier Baez and his wizardry in the field the Cubs have performed well. Now it’s Hector Rondon‘s chance to shine for Team Venezuela in the second round. It also could be the spark he needs to turn this season into something special.

If you haven’t seen it, you need to. Javier Baez was just simply “being Javy”. A no-look tag on a throw from Yadier Molina was as impressive as it gets when you see it. I think Cubs’ fans have come to expect this from him, but now he’s being showcased to the entire world.
