Chicago Cubs News: David Ross interview; Balance between prospects and superstars

If you by chance missed it, we had the chance to talk with Chicago Cubs’ fan favorite David Ross recently. We discussed his new partnership with Raisin Bran, his DWTS gig and more for the very busy Grandpa Rossy.
It’s not often that you become busier when you retire, but that’s been the case for the Chicago Cubs‘ David Ross. From the moment the last out was recorded, it’s been non-stop for Ross. The parade, guest appearances and more. Now he’s partnered with Raisin Bran and is also on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. Our Jacob Misener had the chance to chat with him about these topics and more.
With a team stocked with young talent, the next wave of prospects is often labeled as “trade bait” or “trade chips”. While that may be the outcome for some, that thinking can be very dangerous down the road. It’s rare for a team to have these many young players performing this well at once. And paying all of them when the time comes? Noot so much rare as it is difficult. So where does the balance lie with this conundrum?
The Cubs’ John Andreoli is missing his chance to make a name for himself in camp, but he’s doing a solid job doing it at the World Baseball Classic. Andreoli hit a walk-off winner for Team Italy as they scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat Mexico, 10-9. Andreoli will likely start where he finished last season in Iowa, but he’ll have some stories to tell those guys when he gets there.
