The Chicago Cubs cruised to a win thanks to Kris Bryant and Jeimer Candelario; meanwhile Cardinals fans boycotted the World Champions.

Kris Bryant launched a grand slam and Jeimer Candelario added three hits and an RBI in a Chicago Cubs’ 9-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kyle Hendricks made his Cactus League debut, tossing two scoreless innings for Chicago.

Brett Anderson, who is vying for a rotation slot, struggled, allowing a handful of runs in two-plus innings of work. The Cubs’ offense benefited from several Los Angels errors, including one that allowed Candelario to score following a run-scoring triple.

Anthony Rizzo sat out again on Saturday, working through tightness in his back. The reigning National League Platinum Glove winner is expected to be back in the lineup Tuesday when the Cubs take on Team Italy from the World Baseball Classic.

A St. Louis-based apparel shop released a T-shirt claiming the Chicago Cubs aren’t the reigning World Series champions, so co-site expert Jacob Misener offered his thoughts on the matter. This is especially relevant given the Cubs open the season on the road at Busch Stadium in early April.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs and Goose Island, a Chicago-based brewery, have joined forces to create a Wrigley Field-themed craft brew. The beer will be unveiled at the home opener against Los Angeles on April 10 – and will only be offered at three locations in the entire country.
