Chicago Cubs’ offseason moves overshadowed by other clubs

Coming off a World Series title, the Chicago Cubs are odds-on favorites to repeat in 2017. However, teams like the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers are reloading with championship hopes of their own.

With a core of young position players intact, led by the likes of National League MVP Kris Bryant, it’s not hard to see why the Cubs are favorites. Add the offensive nucleus to a pitching staff that featured two of the top three finishers in the NL Cy Young race and it makes, even more, sense.

Despite the loaded roster coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history, the Cubs won’t coast to another championship next season. In fact, some of the biggest winners of the offseason come from the National League – even inside the division.

The Winter Meetings changed the landscape of the league. And, if we’re being honest, the Chicago Cubs didn’t steal many headlines so far this winter. Here are the teams that have.
