The

Arismendy Alcantara

has become somewhat the forgotten man. After a solid showing two years ago, his time in Chicago was brief last season. Now with the acquisitions and prospects in front of him, it’s tough to see how he might factor into the future. Will the Cubs look to trade him? Or would dealing the versatile Alcantara be a bad idea?

MLB’s Top 100 Prospects was released recently, and the Cubs–while not dominating the top of the list–have their fair share of players on it. The Cubs came it with six, tied for second most. And the top rated Cub prospect Gleyber Torres wasn’t even on the list last season. They might not have as many players on the cusp of the Show, but there’s no shortage of talent in the system.

After two vetoed trades this offseason, The Reds look to have kept–or are stuck with–Brandon Phillips as their second baseman. Under the 10/5 rule (10 years in the league, five with the same team), Phillips had the right to veto any trade. In both cases, he wanted more money and the Nationals and Diamondbacks balked at that idea. At 35, Phillips is set to make $27 million over the final two years of his deal.
