Cubs post second straight comeback win, beat Reds 7-6 in 10 innings
So where do we start? The Chicago Cubs are in first place? Back-to-back comeback wins? All of these are valid starting points, but the fact is we’re only six games in, but the Cubs are trending up. While
Jorge Solerwas the most notable in the 7-6 comeback win, so many guys played a role in the victory.
For his second straight outing Jon Lester struggled, but his team was there to have his back. Soler homered twice, as well as throwing out a runner at third on an errant pick-off throw (yes, Lester threw over). Chris Coghlan had three hits, as well as sliding in to play third base with Mike Olt and Tommy La Stella ailing. But Arismendy Alcantara‘s single up the middle–his first hit of the season–earned the Cubs the win, and sole possession of first place. The Cubs hadn’t even been two games over .500 since October of 2009.
Our Tobey Johnson posed the question if it’s time to move Starlin Castro–even more relevant seeing Coghlan need to play third in last night’s contest. With Kris Bryant and Addison Russell nearing their time, it’s a fair question. But where would they move him to?
