Morning Marquee: Several MLB teams report to Spring Training

It’s here. It’s finally here.

The Chicago Cubs’ pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training today in Mesa – ending months of eager anticipation that may or may not be partly due to the frigid temperatures Chicago has seen at times this winter.

Yesterday, multiple clubs opened camp, including the NL Central rival Pittsburgh Pirates – but the big story that Cubs fans should keep an eye on centered around Phillies’ left-hander Cole Hamels, who made it abundantly clear that he wants out of Philadelphia.

"“I just want to win,” he told USA Today. “That’s all. That’s all any competitor wants. And I know it’s not going to happen here. This isn’t what I expected. It’s not what the Phillies expected, either. But it’s reality.”"

In other big news, the Detroit Tigers got good news on slugger Miguel Cabrera, who is expected to be ready near Opening Day – giving the team’s offense a potent weapon in the form of baseball’s last Triple Crown winner.
