Morning Marquee: Giants could still bring back Ryan Vogelsong

What seemed like a done deal that Ryan Vogelsong would be joining the Houston Astros, it seems the direction has changed and there’s still a possibility he could return to the Giants. It would appear that the Giants already have a “full” rotation, but Matt Cain and Tim Hudson are coming off of surgeries, and Tim Lincecum has declined over the past three seasons. So at the minimum he would provide depth for the staff.

The battle between the Chicago Cubs and the surrounding Wrigley rooftop business owners continue, and a group filed suit against the Cubs once again. It’s the first since the team was granted permission by the city and the Landmarks Commission to proceed with the renovations. The group is looking for financial relief, as well as an injunction to stop the construction that would block their views.

Johan Santana‘s comeback attempt has been slowed, as he experienced shoulder soreness following a Venezuelan Winter League outing. Santana has not pitched in the Majors since 2012 with the Mets. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but the news is definitely a blow to his effort. Santana was a two-time Cy Young Winner in Minnesota (2004, 2006).
